North – South Expressway Construction Project (Ben Luc – Long Thanh Section),

Package J1: Binh Khanh Bridge and Approach (Km21+739.5 – Km24+503)

– Scope of works:

Package J1 has total length of 2,763m including Nguyen Van Tao-Nguyen Huu Tho overpass (Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City), Binh Khanh Western Approach Bridge, Binh Khanh Cable-Stayed Bridge, and Binh Khanh Eastern Approach Bridge (Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City). The width of bridge: 21.75m.

+ Designed road class: expressway, class A; designed speed: 100Km/h, in phase 1 the designed speed is 80Km/h. Designed load: HL93.

+ The main bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with span lay out: 187,25m+375m+187,25m. Pylons include 2 H-shape pylon with steel pipe sheet piles (SPSP). Girder structure: 2 reinforced concrete box girder going along connected with the reinforced concrete deck slabs and cross beams. Cable-stayed structure: double-plane of cables. Clearance height (WxH): 242m x 55m.

+ Approach bridges: Permanent works in reinforced concrete and pre-stressed reinforced concrete. Girder structure: Box girder casted in situ on bored piles foundation with D1.2m and D1.5m.

+ The span layout of Binh Khanh Western Approach Bridge: 60×2@100+60+56+11@70+56m = 1202m.

+ The span layout of Binh Khanh Western Approach Bridge: 56+10@70+56m = 812m.

* General information of the Project:

GMS Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway Project is designed to connect with Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong Expressway and combine with Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway to make an inter-area expressway, serving goods and passengers conveyance quickly and safety from Mekong Delta to the South focus economic area, particular in Dong Nai and Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provinces. The new expressway will also reduce traffic volume and traffic jam in the section through Ho Chi Minh City.

The total length of the Project is 57.8Km with 8 lanes (4 lanes in phase 1), go through Ben Luc (Long An) – Binh Khanh Bridge – Phuoc Khanh Bridge – intersect to Ring Road No.3 at Km38+200 (Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai).

The entire Project is divided to 11 civil packages and funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
