With the objective to develop a comprehensive and modern transport infrastructure for making Hanoi a center connecting with other localities, contributing to the socio-economic development, connecting regions and reducing traffic congestions in the area, the investment in construction of Van Phuc bridge is an important item that will connect Hanoi with the North-South axis road, with Ring Road No. 5 in Phu Tho province (previously Vinh Phuc province), the main axis road for the development of the industry, tourism – service and the urban of Phu Tho province, and the road to the center of Vinh Yen city.

Van Phuc bridge is a major transport project belongs to Project Group A. This is a class-1 transport work, managed by the Hanoi Transport Construction Projects Management Board. The project has a large investment scale with total length of 7.7km. The project starts at Km0+000 intersecting with National Highway No. 32 in Phung Thuong commune, Phuc Tho district, Hanoi city. The project ends at Km7+773.52 connecting with the Project connecting the left dike of the Red River with Van Phuc bridge invested by Phu Tho province.
The scope of the project:
- – The section in the urban development area (Phuc Tho eco-town, section Km0+000 – Km1+066): Breadth of road foundation B=32.0m ensuring 06 motorized lanes and 02 non-motorized lanes.
- – The section outside the urban development area (Section Km1+066 – Km3+955): Breadth of road foundation B=32.0m ensuring 06 motorized lanes and 02 non-motorized lanes.
- – The section in Van Coc lake (Km3+955 – Km6+600):
- Road passing Van Coc lake has foundation breadth B=32.0m ensuring 06 motorized lanes and 02 non-motorized lanes.
- Viaduct over Van Coc lake has breadth B=20.5m ensuring 04 motorized lanes and 02 non-motorized lanes.
- – Van Phuc bridge (Km6+600 – Km7+773): The cross section of Van Phuc bridge over the Red River has the breadth B=20.5m ensuring 04 motorized lanes and 02 non-motorized lanes.
VNCN E&C undertakes the construction of the bridge including all cantilevered casting girders; Other bridge works: pier P45H to pier P51H and pier P56H to pier P63H, girders from pier P44H to pier P51H and from pier P56H to pier P1V; Shop-drawing design and BIM; Ensuring waterway traffic safety during construction period.
Van Phuc bridge has breadth B=20.5m with 04 motorized lanes and 02 non-motorized lanes, design velocity V=80km/h.
Technical specifications: According to Decision No. 3285/QD-UBND dated 25/06/2024 of the People’s Committee of Hanoi city approving the project; Decision No. 2273/QD-UBND dated 02/05/2024 the People’s Committee of Hanoi city approving the Alignment Plan for Van Phuc bridge over the Red River and the road connecting to NH32, the section in the urban development area has the scale of urban axis road (design velocity V=80km/h, according to Standard TCVN 13592:2022), the section outside the urban development area has the scale of class-III plain road (design velocity V=80km/h, according to Standard TCVN 4054:2005).
Groundbreaking Ceremony of Van Phuc bridge
VNCN E&C has mobilized manpower and equipment to speed up the construction progress of the Package for ensuring the Project schedule. When Van Phuc bridge is completed, it will contribute to the development and effective exploitation of the road connecting Hanoi city with the North-South axis road and Ring Road No. 5 in Phu Tho province (previously Vinh Phuc province), the main axis road for the development of the industry, tourism – service and the urban of Phu Tho province.
