My Thuan 2 bridge over Tien river was commenced on 16 March 2020. Thanks to the special attention, strict and regular instructions of the Government, the Prime Minister, the support and close cooperation of the Ministries, governmental authorities and localities, as well as the efforts of consulting agencies of the Ministry of Transport, Project Management Unit No. 7, the Consultants and the Contractors, the project completed successfully. This is a national major project, a special-class road transport work which is designed and constructed by Vietnamese engineers. The project has the total investment of VND 5,003.064 billion funded by the state investment budget.
My Thuan 2 bridge lies on the expressway axis from Ho Chi Minh city to Can Tho city, which has the start point connecting with Trung Luong – My Thuan expressway and the end point connecting with My Thuan – Can Tho expressway, connects two provinces of Vinh Long and Tien Giang, the arterial route having the largest traffic volume of the major national roads in the region. The bridge has the length of nearly 2 kilometers, 6 traffic lanes, design velocity of 80km/h. The approach roads have total length of 6.6km, the main span has the length of 350m, 2 pylons have the height of over 125m. The main span has stayed-cable structure, aperture of 350m, navigational clearance of 37.5m, bridge deck breadth of 28m.
When put into operation, My Thuan 2 bridge will contribute to complete the transport and logistics system in the region, at the same time, ease the increasing traffic burden on the current My Thuan bridge and National Highway No. 1, meet the increasing demands for goods and passenger transportation, facilitate the economic growth and the socio-cultural development of the South West region.
My Thuan 2 bridge and approach roads at two ends project consists of 5 main packages, of which VNCN Engineering Construction and Investment Joint Stock Corporation (VNCN E&C) and joint venture members perform package XL.03A and package XL.03B (main bridge), with main works as follows:
– Package XL.03A: (Km 106+013.500 – Km 106+663.500) Construction of bored piles and foundation of piers for cable-stayed main span from Pier T14 to Pier T17 (including waterway safety control during the implementation). Main contractor: VNCN E&C – CIENCO1 – Trung Nam E&C Joint Venture
– Package XL.03B: Construction of pier shaft (from T14 to T17) and superstructure of the cable-stayed main span; River bank consolidation; Traffic safety system; Lighting system (including waterway safety control during the implementation). Main contractor: Trung Nam E&C – Trung Chinh – VNCN E&C Joint Venture
