Construction Progress of Package A6 – Danang-Quang Ngai Expressway Project
The Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway Project, being constructed as part of the North-South Expressway, will connect Da Nang and Quang Ngai provinces of Vietnam. The Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) is the Employer of the project on behalf of the Ministry of Transport (MOT) Vietnam. Construction commenced in May 2013 and is expected to be completed by 2017.
The Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway will be 26m wide and 139.52km long, It will have 04 lanes, 09 intersections, system of underground culverts, drainage culverts, bridges, two-lane tunnel and miscellaneous items. The expressway has design speed of 120km/hour.
Package A6 involves in construction of 10km of road, 09 bridges, box and pipe culverts and pedestrian culvert.
Although facing many challenges of technique, construction conditions or righ-of-way matters during the construction time, Contractors has worked closely with Client and Engineer to overcome them and satisfied all quality and progress requirement.
At this time the progress is reported as follows:
Road works: From Km 45+740 to Km47+040 and Km50+700 to Km52+000.
– At Km50+700 – Km52+000, embankment work is finished to K95 and K98 layers; the sub base and base works are undertaken at Km45+740 to Km47+040, the remaining embankment work of last section is urgently executing. Also, the slope and AC works are about to be commenced in next time.
System of box culvert and underpass culvert:
All box culverts and pipe culvert are completed, two third of underpass culverts are finished and shall be completed in April 2016.
Bridges Works:
VINACONEX E&C is in charge of construction three bridges. Girder work of bridges ORB12 and CB12 were completed, deck slabs and parapets are processing on site. For bridge ORB13, the construction of abutment A2 and Pier P1 are finished; the abutment A1 work shall be commenced up on completion of the soft soil treatment work at this location.
Scheduled to be opened to the traffic in 2017, Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway is expected to increase the economic, society and security-military growth rate in the region and also boost the international transportation among Laos – Cambodia – Vietnam through the East-West Economic Corridor to sea ports at Central region of Vietnam.
