Nhat Tan Bridge Construction Project, Package 2: Construction of South Approach Bridge and Road

– Construction period: From September 2011 to December 2014
– Main Contractor: Joint Operation of Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co.,Ltd – Vinaconex Construction and Import – Export Joint Stock Corporation (Sumitomo Mitsui – Vinaconex Joint Operation)
– Vinaconex E&C managed and executed the Vinaconex’s scope of works in the Joint Operation.
– Contract value: 1,576 billion VND.
– Scope of works:
* Construction of bridge:
+ Total length L = 675m, width W = 33.2m. Designed speed: 80km/h.
+ Substructure: Bored piles with diameter D1.5m, the piles depth from 37m to 42m; total length of bored piles L = 9,944m.
+ Superstructure: Pre-stressed RC box girder with cantilever method. Total length L = 675m, in which the length of largest span is 120m; the width of 16.6m.
+ Bridge pavement: Polymer asphalt concrete with 3.5cm layer and 4.0cm layer.
* Construction of road:
+ Total length: L = 2,126m; width W = 39.5m; including 576m of main route and 1,550m of frontage road. Designed speed: 80km/h.
+ Pavement: Binder course asphalt concrete (7cm layer), surface course asphalt concrete (5cm layer) and polymer asphalt concrete: 13,800 tons of various types.
+ Construction of RC retaining wall: Total length L = 1,880m.
+ Construction of underpasses (83.62m); various drainage culverts (3,099m) and technical tunnel (1,748m).
+ Construction of Phu Thuong Interchange: Half-cloverleaf shaped design.
* General information of the Project:
Nhat Tan Bridge (Vietnam – Japan Friendship Bridge) is a cable-stayed bridge crossing the Red River in Hanoi. The main structure of Nhat Tan Bridge includes 5 A-shaped concrete pylons and 6 cable-stayed spans. It has shortened the travel time from Hanoi centre to Noi Bai Internation Airport by half and vice versa as well as eases the burden on other bridges.
