An importance milestone of Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway

In the 19 December morning, the Vietnam Expressway Corporation held the Inauguration Ceremony of Binh Khanh bridge, the major work of Package J1 under Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway project. This is an important milestone after years making efforts to solve the difficulties in the capital source and in the technical matter to resume the construction and complete the project.
Binh Khanh bridge over Soai Rap river, connecting Hiep Phuoc with Binh Khanh regions, contributing to completing the strategic inter-region transport axis of the Southwest and the Southeast regions. The work has a total investment of 3,700 billion VND funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Package J1 is performed by Shimizu Corporation – VNCN E&C Joint Operation. VNCN E&C undertakes major work items including construction of Nguyen Van Tao – Nguyen Huu Tho roads flyover, Eastern approach bridge and Western approach bridge of Binh Khanh bridge, construction of bored pile foundations, pier shafts, pier caps and super-structures of the main bridge.
The work has the total length of about 2.764 km with the whole structure of bridge, consisting of Binh Khanh main bridge of stayed cables and approach bridges at two ends. The highlight of the project is the cable-stayed bridge with span of (187,25 + 375 + 187,25)m, including two H-shape pylons of about 155m high. The bridge is designed according to the standards for A-type expressway with 4 traffic lanes, velocity of 100 km/h and load HL93.
The project was commenced in 2015 but has been suspended since 2018 due to obstacles in terms of design adjustment and fund arrangement. After solving the difficulties, Package J1 was resumed in 2022 and the construction of Binh Khanh bridge was officially resumed in March 2023.

The completion and the inauguration of Binh Khanh bridge not only express the determination of the Employer, the Consultants and the Contractors, but also prove the effective cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in the development of major national transport works. The work is expected to open a new driving force for the development of the Southern region in the coming time.
The Binh Khanh bridge is not only of great significance in terms of transport infrastructure but is also considered a driving force for the socio-economic development of the Southern region of Ho Chi Minh city, especially Nha Be and Can Gio. When Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway is completed, the project will contribute to easing the traffic burden on the National Highway No. 1 and the National Highway No. 51, promote the inter-region transport connection, shorten the commodity transportation time and facilitate the investment attraction and tourism and logistics development.
