Can Tho – Ca Mau expressway, a major national infrastructure work holding great expectation of millions of people in the Mekong Delta Region, is in the period of final completion for technical opening on 19 December following the order of the Government.
During the last 3 challenging years of construction, it is a great honor that VNCN Engineering Construction and Investment Joint Stock Corporation (VNCN E&C) is one of the contractors constructing important packages of the Project.
Construction of major packages of the Eastern North-South Expressway
At the Project, VNCN E&C undertakes the construction of two major packages:
- Package XL: Construction of the entire alignment (including survey, shop-drawing design) of Can Tho – Hau Giang component project under the Eastern North-South Expressway in the 2021 – 2025 period.
- Package XL-02: Construction of section Km91+800 – Km114+200 (including survey, shop-drawing design) of Hau Giang – Ca Mau component project under the Eastern North-South Expressway in the 2021 – 2025 period.
These are packages of large quantities, high-technical requirements and tight schedule. Both are directly influenced by typical natural conditions of the Southwest Region.
Severe difficulties during the construction
During the construction, the contractor encountered a series of difficulties and challenges. The weather in the Southwest is complicated. Heavy rains lasted for months, that directly affected the construction of road embankment, pavement and technical work items.
Moreover, the shortage of materials and the considerable fluctuation of the prices of materials, fuels and manpower in the 2022 – 2025 period imposed a heavy burden on the organization of construction and the cost balance.
Overcoming difficulties by responsibility, creativity and high determination
Facing such challenges, with the spirit of “overcoming all weather conditions, work tirelessly day and night”, VNCN E&C together with its sub-contractors were proactive in establishing flexible construction plans, organized overtime work, increased work shifts, maximized the mobilization of manpower and equipment to the construction site.
Our team from engineers, technical staff to Company’s leaders were present at the site all the time to timely deal with arising matters. We applied a number of creative technical solutions to shorten the construction time but still ensuring the quality, aesthetics and labor safety.
Not only making efforts in construction, the contractor worked closely with the Employer, the Supervision Consultant and other stakeholders to solve the difficulties in materials, to coordinate suitable schedules of the construction teams for ensuring the overall objective of the Project.
Ready for on-time technical opening
At present, all major work items performed by VNCN E&C at Can Tho – Hau Giang and Hau Giang – Ca Mau component projects have been basically completed as required. The asphalt paving work, the installation of traffic safety items and the technical completion have been focused at high intensity.
That Can Tho – Ca Mau expressway satisfied the conditions for technical opening on 19 December is not only a significant milestone of the Project but an evidence of the responsibility, the persistence and the determination of the construction contractors including VNCN E&C towards the expectation of the Party, the State and the People.
Contribute to the creation of a new development driving force in the Southwest Region
When completed and put into operation, Can Tho – Ca Mau expressway will shorten considerably the travelling time, create a smooth connection axis from Lang Son to Ca Mau, strongly promote the trade, logistics, tourism and socio-economic development for the entire Mekong Delta Region.
